Internship

We invite college and seminary students to spend a few months serving alongside us in eastern Europe.

For a college student or a high school graduate, the internship would be an assistant role to certain ministry activities. For a seminary student, the internship would be treated like a pastoral ministry internship. In both cases the goal would be to introduce the intern to life overseas and help them understand the needs and opportunities of Reformed churches in places with almost no evangelical and Reformed presence.

Chișinău Reformed Church is a church plant of the International Presbyterian Church (IPC), started in 2023 by TE Paul Sanduleac. We are committed to being a confessional congregation that values the regular means of grace. Our current attendance is mainly made up of college students and young adults.

An internship would include:

  • Exposure to the ministry of the Word and the means of grace
  • Depending on skills and qualifications, opportunities to teach, preach, and disciple (preaching would be reserved for male interns with some experience)
  • Participation in the life of a local church
  • Discussions about contextualization from a Reformed perspective
  • Attendance at presbytery meetings of the continental European presbytery
  • Building cross-cultural relationships with local peers
  • Using the Bible to teach English to youth and adults
  • Helping ministry teams with practical needs
  • Acquiring skills required for life overseas
  • Making connections with Baptist and Reformed ministries in our region
  • Learning about Eastern Orthodoxy (for ex. interviewing eastern Orthodox believers and church leaders)
  • Depending on interest, using music or sports for outreach (for ex. helping coach at a Christian soccer club for kids)
  • Depending on interest, getting involved with a mercy ministry in our city (for ex. volunteering at an afterschool program or a ministry to orphans)
  • Depending on interest, studying a foreign language (Romanian)

Our internship program started in 2023, with an MDiv student from Westminster California spending 6 weeks with us before we officially started our church. The internship included preaching on Sunday at multiple churches, teaching mid-week Bible studies, home visitation, evangelism, attendance of IPC presbytery meetings, helping in a VBS, etc. It was a rounded introduction to life and Reformed ministry overseas.

We help our interns with planning their budget and fundraising.

Qualifications:

  • A mature Christian, reflecting the qualities of Christian character as expressed in the Scriptures
  • Positive character references
  • Clear understanding of the gospel
  • Clear understanding of complementarianism
  • A firm commitment to the Reformed faith
  • Some experience in evangelism and discipleship (whether formal or informal)
  • Completion of the inquiry form (on the job posting page)
  • Willingness to fundraise living and travel expenses
